Appearance

The Sunset Honey Gourami displays a warm, glowing gradient of golden-yellow to vivid orange-red colouration across the body — the warm sunset tones that give this variety its evocative name. The colour gradient is most vivid in males in breeding condition, with the orange-red intensifying toward the belly and fins. The long, thread-like pelvic fins trail gracefully below the body. Under aquarium lighting, the warm sunset colouration glows beautifully, creating a warm, inviting presence in any planted tank.

  • Plants & Decor: Heavily planted tanks with floating plants; gentle filtration preferred

Compatibility & Tank Mates

One of the most peaceful gouramis available. Excellent tank mates include small tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, and Neocaridina shrimp. Avoid boisterous or aggressive fish that may stress them.

Breeding

Bubble nest builders. Males construct a floating bubble nest and court females. Eggs are deposited in the nest and guarded by the male. Fry hatch in 24–48 hours.

The Sunset Honey Gourami is a warm and glowing little fish that brings sunset colours and gentle personality to any planted aquarium. A perfect choice for nano and community tanks alike.
