The Crossband Chocolate Gourami displays a rich chocolate-brown to dark body with bold, pale to white crossbands running vertically across the body — a distinctive banded pattern that sets this species apart from other chocolate gouramis. The crossbands are particularly vivid in well-conditioned fish and create a striking contrast against the dark chocolate body.
