Create a Layout That Feels Naturally Connected

Frame Slim Wood with low-growing plants, soften its outline with moss, or attach Anubias and Bucephalandra to its surface. As plants establish, the wood becomes part of the landscape, with surfaces that shrimp can explore and graze. Select a piece that suits your tank's proportions while leaving open swimming space and access for maintenance.

• Soaking: Pre-soak in a separate container as needed. Natural wood may initially float; secure it safely until waterlogged.
• Tannins: Natural wood may release tannins that tint the water amber. Pre-soaking and regular water changes can help reduce the tint.
• Initial biofilm: A pale film may appear on newly submerged wood. Gently brush or siphon it away if desired.
• Natural variation: Shape, colour, texture, and proportions differ between pieces. Wood naturally weathers over time.

Incorporate Slim Wood into freshwater planted aquariums and shrimp-focused layouts, matching the arrangement to your livestock and tank dimensions. Position each piece securely and check that gaps cannot trap fish. Keep rhizome plants attached above the substrate rather than burying their rhizomes, and allow water to circulate around the hardscape.
