Pistia stratiotes - Water lettuce

Add a fresh green accent to your freshwater setup with Water Lettuce (Pistia stratiotes). This floating aquatic plant forms rosettes of softly textured leaves above the water, with long, feathery roots trailing beneath the surface.

Why choose Water Lettuce?

• Natural surface cover: Creates shaded areas and a lush, planted look.
• Root shelter: Hanging roots provide cover for small fish and fry.
• No planting required: Floats freely without substrate.
• Easy to thin: Remove excess growth to keep open swimming and feeding areas.

Care tips

• Provide bright lighting and space above the leaves.
• Keep at the surface in a gentle-flow area, away from splashing and strong filter outlets.
• Keep leaves above water rather than submerged.
• Thin regularly so other plants can still receive light.

Live plant note: Size, shape, and colour naturally vary. Never release aquarium plants into natural waterways.
