Appearance

The Neon Dwarf Gourami displays a vivid pattern of alternating neon blue and red-orange diagonal stripes across the body — the intense, electric colouration that gives this variety its neon name. The blue stripes shimmer with an almost iridescent quality under aquarium lighting, while the red-orange stripes provide a warm, contrasting accent. The long, thread-like pelvic fins trail gracefully below the body. Under good aquarium lighting, the neon colouration appears almost luminous, making this one of the most visually striking small gouramis available.

Compatibility & Tank Mates

Excellent community fish. Good tank mates include small tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, and Neocaridina shrimp. Avoid aggressive fish or fin-nippers. Keep one male per tank to prevent territorial disputes.

Breeding

Bubble nest builders. Males construct a floating bubble nest and court females. Eggs are deposited in the nest and guarded by the male. Fry hatch in 24–48 hours.

The Neon Dwarf Gourami is a vivid and electric fish that brings neon colour and gentle personality to any planted aquarium. A perfect and eye-catching centrepiece for nano and community tanks alike.
