Warm Gold Meets Intricate Grass Patterning
The Metal Yellow Grass Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is a stunning high-grade fancy guppy that pairs a rich, full metallic yellow-gold body with the delicate, lace-like grass pattern across the caudal fin. Where the Metal Blue Grass dazzles with cool iridescence, the Metal Yellow Grass radiates warmth — a glowing, golden sheen that catches the light beautifully against planted tank backgrounds and dark substrates.
Our specimens are selectively bred for strong metallic body coverage, vivid yellow-gold colouration, and well-defined grass patterning in the tail. Available as Male or Female.

Appearance
Males display a full metallic yellow-gold body — a warm, luminous sheen that covers the entire body and glows under aquarium lighting. The caudal fin carries the signature grass pattern: a fine, intricate network of dots and lines that gives the tail a lace-like, semi-translucent quality. The contrast between the solid warm gold body and the delicate patterned tail makes this variety a standout in any community or species tank.
Water Parameters & Tank Setup
- Temperature: 24 – 28°C (75 – 82°F)
- pH: 7.0 – 7.8
- General Hardness (GH): 8 – 12 dGH
- Tank Size: 40 L (10 gallons) minimum; thrives in well-planted setups
- Filtration: Gentle flow; avoid strong currents that stress delicate fins
Diet & Feeding
- Staple: High-quality flake food or micro pellets
- Treats: Baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro worms — live and frozen foods enhance the golden metallic colouration
Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Compatibility & Tank Mates
- Other peaceful guppy strains and livebearers
- Small tetras, rasboras, and corydoras
- Avoid fin-nipping species to protect the delicate grass tail
Breeding
Livebearers that breed readily. Females give birth to live fry every 4–6 weeks. Fry will develop metallic and grass traits as they mature. Provide floating plants or a breeding box to protect fry from adults.
The Metal Yellow Grass Guppy is a warm, luminous, and intricately patterned fancy guppy — a beautiful complement to the Metal Blue Grass variety and a standout addition to any planted aquarium.
