Aquarium Setup & Compatibility
Provide a mature, well-filtered aquarium with sand or fine gravel, plants, driftwood and caves. Include several hiding places and breaks in the line of sight so fish can establish territories. Keep up with regular partial water changes.
Choose appropriately sized, peaceful tankmates that occupy the middle and upper water levels. Avoid overcrowding and use caution with other bottom-dwelling fish or cichlids. Breeding pairs may aggressively defend their cave and fry. Small shrimp and very small fish may be eaten.
Feeding
Offer quality small cichlid pellets or flakes, supplemented with suitable frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia. Feed a varied diet in small portions and remove uneaten food.
Before You Buy
Adult size is a care reference, not the size of fish supplied. Colour and markings vary with age, sex and condition. Acclimate gradually and introduce into a fully cycled aquarium.
