Appearance

The Golden Gourami displays a warm golden-yellow to honey colouration across the body, with two distinctive dark spots — one in the middle of the body and one at the base of the caudal fin — characteristic of the Three-spot Gourami. The long, thread-like pelvic fins trail gracefully below the body. Under aquarium lighting, the warm golden body glows beautifully, creating a sunny, luminous presence in any aquarium. Males develop a more pointed dorsal fin and display more intense golden colouration during breeding condition.

Compatibility & Tank Mates

Generally peaceful with most community fish. Good tank mates include tetras, barbs, Corydoras, and livebearers. Males can be territorial with other gouramis — keep one male per tank unless the aquarium is large. Avoid very small fish that may be harassed.

Breeding

Bubble nest builders. Males construct a large floating bubble nest and court females. Eggs are deposited in the nest and guarded by the male. Fry hatch in 24–48 hours.
