Appearance
The Sterbai Cory is immediately recognizable by its striking pattern — a dark brown to black body covered with a dense pattern of white to cream spots, creating a bold, high-contrast spotted effect. The pectoral fin spines are vivid orange, adding a warm splash of colour that makes this species truly stand out. The head displays a reticulated pattern of spots and lines. Their armoured body, whiskered snout, and active foraging behaviour give them the endearing character of all Corydoras, with a visual impact that far exceeds their modest size.

Compatibility & Tank Mates
Best kept in groups of 6 or more. One of the best Corydoras choices for warm-water community tanks and discus setups. Also excellent with tetras, rasboras, livebearers, and gouramis. Avoid aggressive fish or large cichlids.
Breeding
Sterbai Corys breed readily in captivity. A water change with slightly cooler water often triggers spawning. Females deposit eggs on plant leaves or glass. Eggs hatch in 3–5 days.
The Sterbai Cory is a bold and beautiful species that brings dramatic spotted patterning and warm orange accents to any aquarium. Peaceful, social, and endlessly rewarding — one of the finest Corydoras species available.
