Appearance

The Blue Neon Platy displays a vivid electric blue to teal body with a metallic sheen that catches the light beautifully. Their compact, rounded body and fan-shaped tail give them a neat, attractive appearance. Under good aquarium lighting, their blue colouration appears almost neon, creating a striking visual impact in any community tank. Both males and females display the blue colouration, with males being slightly slimmer.

Breeding

Platies are livebearers and breed readily. Females give birth to live fry every 4–6 weeks. Provide floating plants or a breeding box to protect fry. Fry can be fed crushed flake food or baby brine shrimp from birth.
