Pure Metallic Blue from Head to Tail
The Blue Metallic Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is a high-grade fancy guppy that showcases one of the most striking and uniform metallic colour expressions in the hobby. Unlike the Blue Grass variety with its patterned tail, the Blue Metallic is defined by a clean, full-body metallic blue sheen — a deep, reflective iridescence that covers the entire body and fins, shifting between cobalt, electric blue, and teal depending on the angle of light. Bold, clean, and luminous.
Our specimens are selectively bred for maximum metallic coverage, colour intensity, and healthy finnage. A high-grade variety for the discerning guppy enthusiast.

Appearance
The Blue Metallic Guppy displays a dense, full-body metallic sheen in rich blue tones — no pattern, no contrast, just pure reflective blue from nose to tail. Under aquarium lighting, the iridescence shifts dynamically between deep cobalt, electric blue, and teal, giving the fish an almost liquid, mirror-like quality. Males are the showstoppers; females are larger-bodied with subtler colouration typical of the species.
Water Parameters & Tank Setup
- Temperature: 24 – 28°C (75 – 82°F)
- pH: 7.0 – 7.8
- General Hardness (GH): 8 – 12 dGH
- Tank Size: 40 L (10 gallons) minimum; thrives in well-planted setups
- Filtration: Gentle flow; avoid strong currents that stress delicate fins
- Lighting: Good aquarium lighting brings out the full depth of the metallic sheen
Diet & Feeding
- Staple: High-quality flake food or micro pellets
- Treats: Baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro worms — live and frozen foods enhance metallic colouration
Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Compatibility & Tank Mates
- Other peaceful guppy strains and livebearers
- Small tetras, rasboras, and corydoras
- Avoid fin-nipping species to protect their fins
- Dark substrates and backgrounds maximise the visual impact of the metallic blue colouration
Breeding
Livebearers that breed readily. Females give birth to live fry every 4–6 weeks. Fry from high-grade metallic parents will develop their blue sheen as they mature. Provide floating plants or a breeding box to protect fry.
The Blue Metallic Guppy is a clean, bold, and breathtakingly iridescent fish — a high-grade showpiece that brings pure metallic brilliance to any planted aquarium. Available as Male or Female.
