Propagation & Planting
Bacopa madagascariensis is easy to propagate — simply take a healthy side shoot or stem cutting and plant it directly into the substrate. New roots will develop quickly. Plant stems 2 – 3 cm apart and trim regularly to encourage dense, bushy growth and prevent legginess. Replant trimmings to fill in gaps and create a fuller, more natural appearance.
Compatibility
Compatible with all freshwater fish and invertebrates. Safe for shrimp tanks. Avoid housing with herbivorous fish that may graze on the soft stems. Pairs well with contrasting textures such as fine-leaved stem plants, mosses, and broad-leaved midground plants like Anubias or Bucephalandra.
Bacopa madagascariensis is an easy-going, attractive stem plant that rewards regular trimming with lush, compact growth. A reliable and underrated choice for any planted aquarium.
