Appearance

Aponogeton henkelianus displays long, broad, strap-like leaves with dramatically ruffled, undulating margins that give the plant a lush, almost tropical appearance. The leaves are a rich, deep green with prominent veining and can grow to impressive lengths, creating a sweeping, dramatic presence in the aquarium. The plant grows from a bulb and produces multiple leaves that rise gracefully through the water column, creating a full, lush display.

Planting & Placement

Plant the bulb in a nutrient-rich substrate, leaving the top half of the bulb exposed above the substrate surface. Best placed in the midground to background of large aquariums where its impressive, ruffled leaves can be fully appreciated as a dramatic focal point.

Compatibility

Compatible with most freshwater fish and invertebrates. Avoid herbivorous fish that may damage the leaves. Best kept with peaceful community fish.

Propagation

Propagates by producing daughter bulbs from the main bulb, or occasionally by seed. Separate daughter bulbs carefully and replant.
