Appearance
The Pinto Mini displays the same stunning variegation as the standard Pinto cultivar — irregular patches and splashes of white, cream, and pale yellow against a deep green background — but in a significantly smaller, more compact form. Each tiny leaf is a unique work of natural art, with no two leaves displaying exactly the same variegation pattern. The miniature size makes this cultivar particularly suited to nano aquariums and detailed foreground arrangements where its extraordinary beauty can be appreciated up close.
Water Parameters & Care
- Temperature: 72 – 82°F (22 – 28°C)
- pH: 6.0 – 8.0
- General Hardness (GH): 3 – 20 dGH
- Lighting: Low to moderate — moderate lighting enhances variegation
- CO₂: Not required
- Fertiliser: Benefits from occasional liquid fertiliser
Planting & Placement
Never bury the rhizome in substrate — attach to small pieces of driftwood, rocks, or coconut shells using fishing line, cotton thread, or aquarium-safe glue. Its tiny size and extraordinary variegation make it ideal for nano aquariums and foreground focal points.
Compatibility
Compatible with all freshwater fish and invertebrates. Thick leaves resist most herbivorous fish. Algae can develop on older leaves — Otocinclus, Amano shrimp, and Nerite snails are excellent companions for algae control.
Propagation
Divide the rhizome with a clean, sharp blade, ensuring each section has at least 2–3 leaves. Variegation patterns may vary in propagated sections.
Anubias nana sp. Pinto Mini is a collector’s treasure in miniature — rare, variegated, and endlessly beautiful. Easy to keep, virtually indestructible, and a true gem for nano aquarium enthusiasts.
