Appearance

The Mini Kirin displays the same deeply crinkled, bullate, and ruffled leaf surface as the standard Kirin cultivar, but in a significantly smaller package. The tiny leaves are richly textured with a puckered, three-dimensional surface that gives each leaf an almost sculptural quality. The deep green, glossy colouration and extraordinary texture make this one of the most visually interesting nano plants available. Under good lighting, the textured surface catches and scatters light in a uniquely beautiful way.

Water Parameters & Care

  • Temperature: 72 – 82°F (22 – 28°C)
  • pH: 6.0 – 8.0
  • General Hardness (GH): 3 – 20 dGH
  • Lighting: Low to moderate
  • CO₂: Not required
  • Fertiliser: Benefits from occasional liquid fertiliser

Planting & Placement

Never bury the rhizome in substrate — attach to small pieces of driftwood, rocks, or even coconut shells using fishing line, cotton thread, or aquarium-safe glue. Its tiny size makes it ideal for nano aquariums, foreground placement, and detailed hardscape arrangements where its extraordinary texture can be appreciated up close.

Compatibility

Compatible with all freshwater fish and invertebrates. Thick leaves resist most herbivorous fish. Algae can develop on older leaves — Otocinclus, Amano shrimp, and Nerite snails are excellent companions for algae control.

Propagation

Divide the rhizome with a clean, sharp blade, ensuring each section has at least 2–3 leaves. Attach new sections to driftwood or rock. New leaves emerge slowly from the growing tip.

Anubias nana sp. Mini Kirin is a rare and extraordinary nano plant that brings incredible texture and detail to any aquascape. Easy to keep, virtually indestructible, and unlike anything else available — a must-have for collectors and nano aquarium enthusiasts.
