Exotic, star-shaped, and wonderfully eye-catching — Anubias nana sp. Jungle Star is a rare and distinctive cultivar of Anubias nana prized for its unusual, deeply lobed or star-shaped leaf form. Unlike the smooth oval leaves of standard Anubias nana, the Jungle Star displays leaves with pronounced indentations or lobes that create a dramatic, almost tropical silhouette. A true collector’s plant that brings unique texture and visual interest to any aquascape.

Appearance

The Jungle Star cultivar is immediately recognizable by its deeply lobed, star-like leaf shape — the leaf margins are cut into pronounced points or lobes that radiate outward, creating a dramatic, almost tropical or fern-like silhouette. The leaves are a rich, deep green with the characteristic glossy Anubias finish. Each leaf is a striking departure from the typical Anubias form, making this cultivar a true focal point in any aquascape.

Water Parameters & Care

  • Temperature: 72 – 82°F (22 – 28°C)
  • pH: 6.0 – 8.0
  • General Hardness (GH): 3 – 20 dGH
  • Lighting: Low to moderate
  • CO₂: Not required
  • Fertiliser: Benefits from occasional liquid fertiliser

Planting & Placement

Never bury the rhizome in substrate — attach to driftwood or rocks using fishing line, cotton thread, or aquarium-safe glue. Its compact size and extraordinary leaf shape make it ideal as a foreground or midground focal point in nano and planted aquariums.

Compatibility

Compatible with all freshwater fish and invertebrates. Thick leaves resist most herbivorous fish. Algae can develop on older leaves — Otocinclus, Amano shrimp, and Nerite snails are excellent companions for algae control.

Propagation

Divide the rhizome with a clean, sharp blade, ensuring each section has at least 2–3 leaves. Attach new sections to driftwood or rock and allow to establish.

Anubias nana sp. Jungle Star is a rare and extraordinary cultivar that brings dramatic leaf shape and visual impact to any aquascape. Easy to keep, virtually indestructible, and unlike anything else available — a must-have for collectors and planted tank enthusiasts.
